Three Reasons to Teach Your Child Swimming

A Philadelphia-based insurance professional with over two decades of experience, Lawrence “Larry” M. Koresko assists clients in his capacity as president of Insmax Insurance Brokerage, Inc. The father of two children, Lawrence “Larry” M. Koresko enjoys swimming in his free time.

For parents thinking about whether or not to enroll their children in swim lessons, here are three reasons why encouraging them to learn how to swim is a great choice.

Data collected by the National Safe Kids Campaign reveals that drowning is the number-two cause of accidental death in children aged 1 to 14. With water found in many areas where children live and play, children who learn how to swim when they are young are at a significantly decreased risk of drowning.

In addition to the safety benefits, swimming is a fantastic exercise activity for children. It offers high cardiovascular benefit and is also a total body workout, engaging almost every muscle in the arms, chest, core, and legs.

Beyond the physical gains swimming offers, children can see increased learning performance by engaging in the sport. Research indicates that there is a link between swimming and advanced academic achievement. According to studies, children who participated in swimming activities in their developmental years were able to reach learning benchmarks more quickly than those who weren’t swimmers.

Yamaha Developing AI to Improve Safety of Motorcycle Riders

As the president of Insmax Insurance Brokerage, Inc., in Philadelphia, Lawrence “Larry” Koresko oversees all activities related to the management and growth of the company. Outside of work, he maintains an interest in motorcycle riding. One of Lawrence Koresko’s first bikes was a traditional Yamaha 80 dirt bike.

Since 1955, Yamaha has been manufacturing motorcycles for both daily use and professional racing. In recent years, the company has started working on an artificial intelligence (AI) system that is designed to increase the safety of riders. Specifically, Yamaha wants to help riders lessen the chances of experiencing overturns, collisions, and other types of motorcycle accidents.

The AI system is borne out of research in which humanoid robots rode Yamaha motorcycles. Through this research, Yamaha developed expertise in how to make motorcycle riding safer. Currently, Yamaha is considering whether to incorporate AI technologies into future models, though certain models, like the new YZF-RI, will come equipped with advanced technology that regulates some of its functions.

Improve Your Arm Action During a Backstroke

A Philadelphia resident, he works with a range of clients, including financial advisors, insurance agencies, attorneys, and accountants. In his leisure time, Lawrence Koresko enjoys swimming.

Certain tips can allow you to improve your arm action during a backstroke. As your arm comes out of the water, lead with your thumb. Ensure that your arm lifts out through the movement from your shoulders. With your palm facing outward and your arm straight, allow your little finger to enter the water first.

Allow your palm to face down and sweep your hand downward and outward until it is aligned between your shoulders and upper chest, while your elbow is bent. Lastly, turn your palm to shift down facing your feet and push yourself through the water until you are ready to lift your arm out of the water again via the rotation of your shoulders.

Devils Tower National Monument Soars above Wyoming

Lawrence M. Koresko holds an undergraduate degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. As president of Insmax Insurance Brokerage, Inc., in the Greater Philadelphia area, Lawrence M. Koresko often organizes educational events for brokers. An avid motorcyclist, Larry Koresko has visited many American tourist attractions, such as Devils Tower in Wyoming.

Declared a national monument by Pres. Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, Devils Tower rises some 1,200 feet over Wyoming’s plains. Geologists do not agree on its exact origin, but the consensus holds that the tower is a volcanic rock formation. As the wearing down of the surrounding sedimentary rock progressed, the rock that is less susceptible to erosion gradually dominated the scene. The visual qualities of Devils Tower drew director Steven Spielberg to use it as a location for his classic Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

A favorite destination of hikers, Devils Tower features some eight miles of trails. A paved 1.3-mile trail encircles the tower, and other paths weave in and out of surrounding forests and meadows.

Because it has hundreds of cracks and columns, the tower is popular among climbers. The National Park Services requires climbers to register before an ascent and check back in when they are finished. Out of respect for Native American culture, the tower is closed to climbers in June.

Holding a bachelor’s degree in economics and possessing over twenty years of experience in the financial sector, Lawrence M. Koresko is a member of the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU).

The main modes of advocacy are AALU Ambassadors and The Capitol Hill Club. In the former, Ambassadors build relationships with policymakers, educate lawmakers on the impacts of potential legislation, and endorse candidates who understand the industry’s issues. The Capitol Hill Club assists in facilitating meetings with key congressional leaders during the AALU’s annual meeting in Washington, DC.

St. Andrews Link Course History

Based in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, Lawrence M. Koresko is the president of Insmax Insurance Brokerage, Inc., where he has been since 2014. In his free time, Larry Koresko enjoys golfing and has played at several famous courses, including St. Andrews Links in Scotland.

St. Andrews Links is one of the world’s most famous golf courses, and its Old Course is considered the home of golf. The game was first played on the course around 1400 AD. Over the next six centuries, that one course turned into seven, and the original course went from 22 holes to 18. Despite the longevity of the sport, golf was banned in 1457 by King James II of Scotland, who thought that young men needed to focus on archery. The ban continued for several decades until 1502 when King James IV took up the sport himself.

The course has seen financial hardships over the years, including bankruptcy, but today the course thrives. The seventh course, the Castle Course, was opened in 2008 due to increasing demand.

Tips for End of Life Planning

As the president of Insmax Insurance Brokerage, Lawrence M. Koresko oversees a variety of financial and legal services. Lawrence M. Koresko and his firm help clients navigate the complexities of life insurance, estate planning, business succession planning, and other services.

Estate planning is difficult, but having a plan ensures that your wishes are carried out both while you are living and after you are gone. Proper planning should include financial and legal professionals, but these three tips will get you started:

1. Get organized while you can. It is never too early to start planning for the inevitable, and being prepared can help your loved ones if something unthinkable happens. Write a will, and have it reviewed by your attorney.

2. Designate a power of attorney, fill out a release-of-information form, and create a living will. These important documents protect your family and your wishes in the event that you are incapacitated. A living will lets your wishes be known, and the other documents give your family or lawyer the power to carry them out.

3. Consider life insurance. Life insurance is most important if you have a spouse or dependents that will need support.

Frequently Asked Questions about Motorcycles and "CC"

Lawrence M. Koresko serves as the president of Insmax Insurance Brokerage, located in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. When he is not working, Lawrence M. Koresko rides his motorcycle as often as he can. He has been riding since the young age of 7 and has owned an array of motorcycles since then.

Many new motorcycle enthusiasts become confused about the size and power ratings of motorcycles. Keep reading to learn all about motorcycle ccs:

What does “cc” mean?
CC stands for cubic centimeters. This measures the volume of an engine’s cylinders. CC is not a measure of power, but a measure of size.

Are higher cc motorcycles more powerful?
Yes. The larger the engine, the more air and fuel it can take in at once. This means it can generate more power, at the expense of fuel efficiency.

What are the sizes of cc?
Small bikes like scooters and mopeds have engines between 50 and 125cc. Most motorcycles are somewhere between 125 and 1400cc, while large cruiser motorcycles can approach 2000cc.

How do I choose the right cc for my riding style?
Beginners should choose motorcycles with lower cc. They should also consider the number of cylinders and overall horsepower. Too much power can be dangerous for beginning riders.
